What is threading and what are the benefits? The art of eyebrow threading is known as the process of removing eyebrow hair piece by piece using a piece of thread. Although a simple process, it requires controlled expertise and years of practice. Threading is a great way of removing the entire hair, including the root, rather than cutting it from the top only. Threading is a precise treatment for shaping and removing unwanted hair completely. It is a very gentle, sanitary, and basically painless way to shape eyebrows. Threading also lasts longer than waxing, tweezing, or shaving. Benefits of Threading Lasts longer than waxing or other methods No chemicals Fast and inexpensive Simple, gentle and hygienic Painless No skin damage Leaves skin smooth Healthier to the skin More precise shape Suitable for all skin types especially for sensitive skin Recommended by dermatologists
-
How long will it take to get my Eyebrows Threaded? It will depend on your Eyebrows shape and the thickness of your hair. Approximately it takes 5-10 minutes. Once you discuss your desired look and expectations with your technician, we will begin cleaning the areas around the skin with a gentle cleanser and alcohol to sterilize the area. The technician will then take a piece of thread between her hands and manipulate the thread with subtle motions to carefully remove unwanted hair from the area piece by piece. The skillful technique of threading artfully mastered can transform your eyebrows with detailing that cannot be achieved with other methods of hair removal. It is a relatively quick process lasting no more than 5-15 minutes.
-
How often I should get my Threading done?It will depend on your hair growth, but usually after 2-3 weeks.
-
Is Eyebrow Threading painful?Threading is very less painful because it is faster and takes out several hairs at a time. The more often you get threading the less discomfort you will have because your skin will adapt to the process. Everyone’s tolerance level is different. For most people, it might feel like a little pinch. But it’s less painful than tweezing.
-
Why should I wax?Waxing is a popular hair removal technique to reveal soft, smooth, silky skin. We find that strip wax is most effective in removing hair from the root. At Elegant Laser & Aesthetics, we use only the best products specifically formulated for sensitive and delicate skin. Our wax is an all-natural wax great for all skin types. Waxed hair grows back smooth and fine, unlike the stubble that shaving causes. Each time you wax, the hair follicle weakens and can eventually die, leaving you with less hair. Waxing also lasts significantly longer than other epilating methods.
-
Does waxing hurt?Well, you are removing hair from the follicle so yes, there is going to be some discomfort. However, it does get easier each time. The hair usually grows slower after the first waxing. We strive to get the wax done as quickly as possible; most all Female Brazilians are done in less than 15 minutes! The wax is allergy free and rarely causes any skin irritation or allergy. While waxing consistently, our client reported slower re-hair growth and found their hair to be finer after each regrowth and wax session. Each wax can last up to 4-6 weeks depending on individual hair growth.
-
How long does my hair have to be in order to be waxed? We require that you have at least a 3-week hair growth. Honestly, the longer the better for your first wax. It is VERY important to have enough hair growth when you come for your appointment. This allows the wax to grab the hairs easily. If your hair is too short, we will ask you to schedule another appointment, which means you are charged for that day's appointment as well, So please, for all of us, make sure you haven't shaved, waxed, or tweezed for 3 weeks.
-
How long will my wax last?Usually, you will need to be waxed every 3-6 weeks. The area being waxed will not necessarily be completely smooth the first few times.
-
Will I be perfectly smooth after my first wax? It's possible but not probable. Some clients are smooth as a baby's bottom after their first experience. However, it is common that after the first 2 or 3 waxings you may feel a wee bit of stubble. NO shaving, tweezing, or waxing between visits. This will cause the hair growth to be in different cycles, we want to wax when all the hair is on the same cycle.
-
Are there any reactions to waxing?Yes, sometimes the face, bikini, back, and chest are all areas that may have a histamine reaction. You can take Benadryl to help before your wax.
-
What do I wear to my waxing appointment?Wear loose fitted clothe for your wax appointment to allow your skin to breathe and avoid anything that may cause irritation. For any Bikini waxes, I suggest wearing a skirt, nothing tight, and no panties when you leave. We need this area to breathe. For back or chest waxes, it would be a good idea to wear a loose t-shirt. Sometimes you will have little blood drops. This is nothing to be concerned about. The hair was simply attached to its food source which is blood.
-
Do I need to get naked? No, not completely. However, we will need you to undress from the waist down, including your underwear if having a Brazilian wax or a Bikini Full. I know it's a little unnerving for you, but trust me; we do these ALL day long. To us, it's all just skin and hair. So, please don't feel embarrassed. We will do our best to put you completely at ease!
-
What is a Brazilian?Hair will be removed from the front to the back and everything in between. Some prefer to take everything in the bikini area and others will leave some at the top, this is really just personal preference. If you would like all the area of the glutes, we will happily wax that for an additional charge.
-
How long does it take to do a Brazilian? It all depends on the client, usually 15-30 minutes. The first time is the longest normally 30 minutes, and then the monthly upkeep is much faster at 15 minutes for most. However, most of the time we are done with the Brazilian in 15 minutes. We are also very meticulous, so we’ll make sure you don’t have hairs where you are not supposed to.
-
What is a Bikini Line VS Bikini Full? The Bikini Line is everything that would be outside of a normal pair of panties, to the crease of the leg and extending about 1.5-2 inches from the crease of the leg. The Bikini Full is much like the Brazilian, it removes as much or as little from the front side only of the bikini area. Adding in the crack makes it a Brazilian wax. If you are unsure of what kind of Bikini wax you want just book a Bikini Full and we will explain the differences.
-
I am pregnant! Can I get waxed?Yep! There is no need to be concerned about waxing while you are pregnant. We wax many of our clients up to the time that they are due to deliver. It is nice to be all cleaned up down there before the baby comes. Some are just a little more tender during the wax but not all.
-
Can I get a Brazilian/bikini wax while on my menstrual cycle?YES! It does not bother us at all. Just use a tampon and we will work around the string. Honestly, it happens all the time!
-
Can I tan before or after I get waxed? No, It is best to wait 48 hours before or after waxing to tan, we don't want to cause any pigmentation issues to the new skin.
-
What medications should I avoid before waxing? If you are on or have been on Accutane in the last year then you should not be waxed! You need to wait 1 year before waxing. The skin is generally very sensitive during and after Accutane. If you use Retin-A, Glycolic, Salicylic, other acid treatments, and certain medications you may not be able to be waxed for up to 2 weeks after you have stopped using them.
-
What to expect at my first wax appointment? You will be asked to remove or reveal the area of skin that you would like to be waxed. We will provide additional cover-up material for extra exposed areas to make our clients more comfortable. Let your technician know if you have been shaving between waxes. The skin is cleaned and then prepped with a powder for better wax adherence. The wax is applied directly to the skin over the hair intended to be removed. Then a strip of wax paper is applied over the wax with a gentle, but firm pressure before the technician removes the strip. Once the wax process is complete, a wax oil is applied over the skin to soothe, calm, and remove any wax residue. We recommend the hair to be a minimum of ¼ inch to ensure proper removal of the hair from its roots. We do not recommend trimming.
-
How should I prepare for my wax appointment?Wear loose-fitted clothe for your wax appointment to allow your skin to breathe and avoid anything that may cause irritation. We also recommended not applying any lotions or serums over the desired wax area for each adherence of the hair to the wax strips. Avoid shaving between wax appointments for best results. We recommend exfoliating one day prior to your wax appointment as well.
-
What should I expect after my wax appointment? After your wax session, we recommend wearing loose-fitted clothing. We also advise avoiding sweating, sauna, steam, bath, or swimming for at least 24 hours to allow the open pores to close. We recommended continuing exfoliating the skin every 2-3 times a week to prevent the growth of ingrown hair. If you struggle with ingrown hair, ask about our ingrown hair serum during your visit.

What should I expect after my lashes appointment?Aftercare is the most important part of lash extensions. First off, avoid water or moisture for the first 24 hours after lash application. This includes sweating, steam, sauna, swimming, or just taking a bath. After the first 24 hours, do not be afraid to wash your face daily. It is crucial to keep the lash surface area free from bacteria buildup around the eye. Not washing can lead to irritation and infection. We recommend brushing your lashes daily to avoid tangling and twisting that can happen during sleep. Do not rub your eyes or pull on your lashes to avoid damage to your natural lashes. Do not try to remove the lashes on your own please as this can also cause damage to your natural lashes. For longer-lasting lashes, we recommend avoiding eye products that consist of oil-based ingredients. You can swim and work out with your lash extensions. Keep in mind that salt water is a solvent and may weaken the adhesive. We recommended no waxing, peels, or chemical treatments near the time before and after the appointment. Touch-ups for lashes are necessary about every 2-3 weeks based on your aftercare and lifestyle activity. We are unable to do touch-ups after 4 weeks (exception based only). Know that it is natural for a few lashes to shed during the initial days after lash application. In order to have your lashes removed, note that you must have your lashes removed by a professional only! Do not attempt to try and remove them yourself as you are highly likely to cause damage to your natural lashes. If you experience any irritation and/or have any concerns, we reach out to us directly. Note that mild irritation and redness after lash extension application is normal and will pass after 24-48 hours.
